Curriculum

We believe that our pupils deserve a creative and relevant curriculum. Class teachers deliver the Core Subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and PSHE. We also have a range of specialist teachers and classrooms to deliver the foundation subjects of Art, Food Technology, Design Technology, ICT, Humanities, French, Work Related Learning, Physical Education, Religious Education. The Foundation Learning and Functional Skills programme was introduced into school in 2010 and provides many additional learning and
accreditation opportunities for our young people.

We encourage a stimulating curriculum that motivates students to learn. Creativity is woven into the fabric of the school, and we make use of our extensive art, technology and garden facilities at every opportunity. ICT is also embedded across all curriculum subjects in order to maximise learning opportunities, using a range of technology including the internet, photography and video.

Regular activities such as arts and sports week, swimming galas, school shows, charity and fundraising events, poetry and artists workshops provide further exciting learning experiences. We are also committed to developing pupil’s independence and therefore offer residential trips and work experience placements to facilitate this. Strong partnerships have been developed with a range of local colleges to offer a variety of courses such as Catering, Animal Studies, Hair and Beauty and Horticulture to students in KS4/5. Worldwide links have been established in order to provide exciting experiences such as trips to our linked special school in China.
